My Philosophy

Happiness is a Skill

I believe that being happy is not genetic or something that some people have and others don’t.

Happiness is a skill, and like any skill, it needs to be practiced and mastered. I can teach you the skills to become more happier and at peace in all areas of your life.

Happiness is a Choice

I believe that happiness does not magically happen when we change jobs, lose weight, retire, find the perfect relationship or win the lottery.

I can help you to choose inner happiness no matter what is going on in your life in the outside world.

Happiness is a Habit

Once we make the decision to be happier and have learned the skills to be happy, it takes time to re-program our brain to be truly happy!

Like forming any new habit, being consistently happy long-term requires practice, persistence and patience.

What do sessions involve?

Our sessions are 100% personalised based on your life situation and needs, but here are some examples of areas we may cover:

Accepting and healing the past

What has happened has happened and nothing can be done to change that, but often the past continues to impact the present and the future. I help you find a place of peace with what has happened to you so that you can move forward and reduce the effect of the echo from the past on your life. This may involve:

  • emotional release
  • finding the gift in the situation
  • forgiveness
Finding the authentic you

Do you know who you are and what you want?

So many people have lost touch with this important aspect and instead find themselves playing the same roles over and over again. They know that this does not feel right, but they do not who they want to be instead. I can help you:

  • uncover your strengths and gifts
  • discover your values and what’s important to you
  • dispute faulty thinking that may be preventing you from being the person you want to be
Choosing joy and happiness

Can you believe that happiness is a choice independent of external situations? We often look to what is happening in the outside world as the cause of our moods, whereas having the tools to be positive in life no matter what the flow of life bring us, can create a more joyful and happy life. Happiness skills include:

  • developing gratitude for your life
  • reframing events as positive
  • mindfulness and present moment awareness
Creating a life that you love

Do you feel like your life has meaning and purpose? Do you love the life you have created? Most people will answer “no” to this question but do not know how to achieve this. We believe that we create out life – rather than it being a result of external happenings – and when we take responsibility and start overcoming our fears, limiting beliefs and thinking patterns that hold us back, we can start to create the life that we really want. I will help you

  • find meaning and purpose in your everyday life
  • develop trust in the way your life is unfolding
  • identify and change long-held beliefs and thinking patterns that do not support what you want to create
  • set positive intentions to catalyse change

In addition to the emotional and mental factors that contribute to long-term health and happiness, as a nutritionist I can also help you find a way of eating to support your health goals. The quality of the food we eat and the health of our physical body is intimately connected to our mental health so making positive changes in our food, in parallel with counseling, can provide much faster results.
